Abstract:Efficient use of agricultural water has important strategic position and role for ensuring water, food and ecological security. All these combined, leads to the sustainable utilization of our nation water resource, which promotes economic sustainable development of agriculture in the rural areas. A focused discussion on the supply and demand balance of agricultural water resource in terms of distribution and irrigation management from the irrigation district upstream runoff was analyzed. The forecast of water distribution was assessed from middle reaches reservoirs and canal system; then, to downstream agricultural field. From the above three levels, some key techniques were selected for research. Based on the analysis of irrigation district, agriculture water-use situation and characteristic for this typical arid continental river, key techniques were analyzed; including optimal allocation technique of water resource, field agriculture water-saving technique, irrigation management technique and agriculture water-using information technique. The research results have important instructions that are significant for the development patterns of irrigation district’s efficient agriculture water-use at the arid continental river.
