Abstract:

The evolution relationship between ecological security pattern and agricultural productive force has been one of the hot topics of ecology in arid areas. In this study, Manas River basin where eco-types zones are significantly different was taken as example, ecological security evaluation for the four eco-types zones of the upper, middle and lower reaches of the river for the past 30 years was carried out; and modified Costanza Model was used to analyse the changes of ecological security from the ecological health on the whole river basin. In the end, the effect of the changes of ecological security pattern on agricultural productive force with the support of RS, GIS and other related materials was analysed. The research suggests that during the past 30 years, the change of the index of four eco-types zones comprehensive assessment on ecological safety and the state of ecological safety were as follows: (1) the index of upper-stream mountain area decreased by 0.13, from safer range to pre-warning range; (2) the index of middle-stream urban area increased by 0.09, from pre-warning range to safer range; (3) the index of middle and down-stream agricultural area decreased by 0.19, from pre-warning range to moderate-warning range; and (4) the index of down-stream desertification decreased by 0.14, the state on ecological safety was on the decline in the pre-warning range. The index of comprehensive assessment on ecological health decreased by 0.13 on the whole river basin, from the healthy state into moderate state; agricultural productive force developed quickly for the model of large-scale cultivation of cotton. However, large-scale cultivation of cotton implied agricultural water consumption was around 90% per year, the groundwater level above decreased by 10 m in oasis edge, which produced a series of negative effects on ecological environment. Agricultural productive force improved apparently, but in fact it decreased potentially, the change between ecological security pattern and agricultural productive force being in the same direction. The improved agricultural productive force was at the cost of destroying ecological environment, which is not conducive to ecological environment and sustainable development of agriculture.
