The 4th International Conference on Postharvest and Quality Management of Horticultural Products of Interest for Tropical Regions (PQMHP 2017)

Date: 2017-04-06

WELCOME TO THE PQMHP 2017

Horticulture plays a key role in world agriculture. It not only provides fruits and vegetables to nourish people, but also provides plants and flowers to heal the minds of the people. The range of tropical horticultural products that serve the international horticulture trade is countless. However, reaching quality horticultural products at the target markets as demanded is limited due to poor postharvest management and lack of knowledge about required technologies, quality standards and food safety guidelines. Improper quality management during cultivation and postharvest procedures in developing countries result in losses that amount to more than 50 percent for perishable horticultural crops.

Researchers have been trying to provide research evidences addressing the aforesaid issues to uplift the status-quo of the horticulture industry. The 4th International Conference on Postharvest and Quality Management of Horticultural Products of Interest for Tropical Regions (PQMHP 2017) which will be held from 6th to 8th April 2017 in Kandy, Sri Lanka is the platform to stage all work done by researchers pertinent to the above topic.

This conference is organized by The Agriculture Education Unit (AEU) of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya under the aegis of the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS). The organizing committee is pleased to invite all the parties involved or interested in this filed to share their knowledge for a better understanding of Postharvest and Quality Management of Horticultural Products of Interest for Tropical Regions.
