Date: 2017-07-09
The Scientific programme of the 20th Triennial Conference of the EAPR will be built on the frame sentence: “Potato facing global challenges”
All the current themes interesting the potato production in which the EAPR sections are involved (i.e agronomy and physiology, breeding and varietal assessment, post-harvest, pathology and pests, virology) are open for submissions. However, the wish of the scientific committee is also to organize them according to the major and strategic orientations listed below:
- Climate change and impact on crop:
-
Emerging pests, tolerance to biotic stress
-
Tolerance to abiotic stresses (water, salt, heat, cold ...)
-
Evolution / displacement of production areas
- To produce and breed differently:
-
To produce closer to the plant needs (precision farming, DSS, ...)
-
Bio-control: solutions that are expanding
-
The digital revolution: high throughput phenotyping and genotyping
-
GM, TPS, participatory breeding
- Sustainable Resource Management:
-
Genetic resources for a sustainable potato production
-
Sustainable management of soil fertility
-
Pests and integrated plant protection
-
Sustainable water management
-
Maintaining an healthy situation in front of globalization: regulations as tools to preserve the potential of potato production
- Population growth and food security:
-
European cooperation actions
-
Positioning potato vs other arable crops (maize, rice, wheat, sorghum)
-
Nutrition and health
- Market segmentation and added value:
-
Comparison between the European model and the rest of the world
-
Acceptance of innovation
-
Non-food use
A reflection is also already committed on specific workshops as:
-
Seed potatoes for the future
-
Sensors & new production tools
-
Potato: an appropriate crop to improve food security outside Europe
