Abstract:

This research was conducted to evaluate the effect of planting bed composition on the mini-tuber production of Agria and Savalan potato cultivars in the laboratory and greenhouse of Potato Seed Production Company of Dasht-Zarrin, Ardabil, during 2010. Experiment was factorial based on completely randomized design with three replications and three factors: A potato cultivar (Agria and Savalan), B planting bed composition (Mikskaar:Punce, Mikskaar:Zeolit, Pindstrup:Punce, Pindstrup:Zeolit, Biolan:Zeolit and Biolan:Punce as control) and C ratio of bed components (1:1 and 2:1 v/v). Analysis of variance showed that cultivar, planting bed composition, ratio of components and their interaction had significant effects on number and weight of mini-tubers per square metre, mini-tuber size average and number and weight of mini-tubers in weight classes of <3 g, 3- 7 g and >7 g. Maximum number of mini-tubers per square metre, number and weight of mini-tubers in weight class of 3-7 g and number of mini-tubers in weight class of >7 g were related to Savalan cultivar grown on Pindstrup:Zeolit (2:1 v/v). There was significant positive correlation between number of mini-tubers and number of mini-tubers in weight class of >7 g and weight of mini-tubers in weight class of <3 g.
