The effect of chromium methionine (CrMet) supplements on the performance and serum metabolites of broiler chickens was investigated. Two hundreds and eighty eight male broiler chickens (Ross 308) were assigned to four dietary groups (0, 200, 400 or 800 ppb CrMet) over 42-d experimental period. Performance, mortality and serum metabolites were determined. Addition of CrMet to the broiler chicken diets had no effect on performance in the starter phase (P>0.05), but in the grower phase, body weight (BW) was influenced with CrMet supplementation (P<0.05).The highest final BW was recorded for the 200 ppb CrMet followed by 800 ppb treatment. The lowest mortality was recorded for 400 ppb followed by 800 ppb CrMet treatment. By supplementing the diets of these birds with CrMet the serum metabolites were altered and glucose (GLU), cholesterol (CHL) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) contents were reduced and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) increased (P<0.05). The results confirm that a supplement of chromium methionine was beneficial on the growth performance and serum metabolites of broilers and 200 ppb gives best growth performance.
