New technologies and adult education: The case of Greek farmers

Abstract:The rapid developments taking place in the technological sector in relation to agriculture necessitate the participation of farmers in educational programmes that are based on modern perceptions concerning adult education. The basic aim of these training programmes is to combine cognitive objectives, capacity building and behaviour modification, in order to formulate an educational strategy that will determine the active participation of adults in the educational process by valorising their experience. More specifically, one way to improve the living conditions of farmers and promote the development of the agricultural sector in general is by training farmers in the use of new technologies, and in particular, through the acquisition of knowledge and skills related to the search for information on the Internet.
