Abstract:There are both potentials and limitations in the field of biotechnology; however, the scope of this work is primarily the benefits that can be ascribed to biotechnology and hence the need and importance of it. The applications of biotechnology are described with specific examples. This collection is a bird eye view for biotechnology stakeholders. Agricultural extension and advisory services need to explore the features of biotechnology if farmers in developing countries want to maximize benefits. This is based on the premise that agricultural extension services are the most important source of information and affect farmers’ behaviour in adoption.
