Abstract:

For successful agriculture management knowledge about relation of water, soil and plant is necessary. In addition, one of the most effective factors that causes change in amount of yield is salinity of soil and irrigation water. If the effect of salinity in commercial production is predictable, it will be possible to estimate production quality. In this paper by using data that were measured in Sugarcane Research Station in south west of Iran, the effect of irrigation water electrical conductivity (2, 3, 4.5 and 6 dS/m) was evaluated on three varieties of sugarcane (CP48-103, CP57-614 and IRC99-01) juice quality. Results show that the relation between electrical conductivity of irrigation water (ECi) and quality factors of sugarcane juice such as Pol (sucrose % in juice), Brix (soluble solids % in juice), purity (Pol as Brix %), ECj (electrical conductivity of juice dS/m), Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+ and Cl (meq/l) for three variety of sugarcane (CP48-103, CP57-614 and IRC99-01) were similar. There are also decrease in juice Pol%, Brix%, purity, Mg2+ and K+ with increased electrical conductivity. Electrical conductivity, Ca2+, Na+ and Cl of sugarcane juice were increased with increasing ECi. In addition, most of the increase in juice electrical conductivity was due to increase in Cl and Na+, respectively.
