Developing GIS based information system for manufacturing industry clusters evaluation: Case of Chinese wine industry

Abstract:

Integration poses challenges in terms of competitiveness and cohesion. The disparities between regions are generated by the structural deficiencies in key factors and competitiveness. Industry cluster is considered as an effective form for manufacturing industries to improve competitiveness and growth and stimulate innovation. In recent years, wine industries in China develop rapidly. Consumers have increased consumption of wine products due to recognition of their nutritional value along with social progress and the improvement of living standards. The paper develops a GIS-based information system for wine industry clusters evaluation integrating Gini, CR5 to provide a visual analysis for the development trends of wine industry clusters. Results show that wine industry has obvious industry cluster characteristics and the evaluation system is efficient tool to evaluate and analyze the wine industry clusters.
