The application of water and drainage laws on consumer safety towards environmental sustainability in Malaysia

Abstract:

Water and drainage laws play an important role to ensure safety to the consumer, especially in dealing with the environment of inland waters from being polluted and contaminated, in order to achieve sustainable development through environmental sustainability. The use both mentioned laws in the area of consumer’s safety are largely, in reply to the necessity of each consumer to protect his rights and interests in consuming inland waters. Therefore, this paper examines the use both mentioned laws in relation to the consumer safety towards inland waters from Malaysia point of views; identify actions and cases which deal the above-mentioned matters from the Malaysian legal perspectives. Finally, this paper also covers with discussions on water and drainage laws as a means to achieve sustainable development by promoting the concept of environmental sustainability to the consumer.
