Abstract:

Climatic changes, which effectively influence on the environmental systems can be monitored through scanning most important factors such as the sea surface temperature. In this research the relations between the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea surface temperature (SST) and the fall and winter rain amounts of three synoptic stations in Khuzestan province in Iran during years 1965-2010 were scrutinized by means of a data mining technique called association rules. The coincident and individual effects of Persian Gulf and Red Sea SST on these events were analyzed using a data mining model. The new model was developed to find the relations between atmospheric and climatic indices in a different manner from classic hydrology. Results show that coincident use of Persian Gulf and Red Sea SST enables us to find more relations than the separate use of them. The algorithm can predict the neutral condition with most confidence in future, while its ability to predict the moderate drought and extreme wet conditions is significant.
