Abstract:

A pot trial with acid yellow–brown soil was conducted to investigate the interactions of molybdenum (Mo) and phosphorus (P) fertilizers on dry matter (DM) accumulation, seed yield and yield parameters of Brassica napus. It was applied at three different Mo rates (0, 0.15 and 0.30 mg Mo kg-1 soil) and P rates (0, 0.20 and 0.40 g P2O5 kg-1 soil). The results indicated that both Mo and P fertilizers increased DM, accumulation rate of DM, seed yield and yield parameters, biomass yield and harvest index of Brassica napus. The highest values were observed in the treatments of Mo and P fertilizers co-application, indicating a synergetic effect on DM accumulation and seed yield of Brassica napus between Mo and P fertilizers. The seedling stage was a sensitive period for Mo deficiency in Brassica napus. Furthermore, P increased seed yield mainly through increasing branches and pods of each plant and Mo through increasing pods of each plant and 1000-grain weight. The results obtained in this study suggest that co- application of Mo and P fertilizers is conducive for the improvement of growth and seed yield of Brassica napus
