Abstract:A study was conducted in north of Iran in order to analyze the energy consumption for peanut-bean intercrop and identification of the main energy utilization indices. Data were collected from 68 peanut-bean intercrop farmers using face to face interview method. Obtained results showed that total energy inputs and outputs were 21291.6 and 97716.89 MJ ha-1, respectively. Diesel fuel was the highest input energy and responsible for 41.82% of the total consumed energy in the peanut-bean intercrop production. Energy output-input ratio was 4.59, specific energy 3.65 MJ kg-1, energy productivity 0.274 kg MJ-1, and net energy gain 76,425.29 MJ ha-1. Renewable and non-renewable energies were 4627.67 and 16,663.93 MJ ha-1, respectively. Results also indicated that the total direct and indirect energies for peanut-bean intercrop were 51.63% and 48.37% of the total energy input, respectively.
