Comparative attitude of civil engineering students towards environmental education in India and Iran

Abstract:

This study aims to investigate several effective features on the environment. Among these most vital factors are awareness of environmentalism knowledge to deal with the environment, developing new attitudes towards environmentalism issues, developing skills to solve environmental problems, providing evaluation ability of the environment and increasing the participation and involvement of the students in solving environmentalism problems. For this purpose, in this survey, it was attempted to explore knowledge as well as attitude of polytechnic diploma and associate degree level civil engineering students in India and Iran towards environmentalism education. In this regard, associate degree level technical institutions with 125 students from civil engineering branch in Iran were considered for data collection to match with 15 polytechnic colleges (government, aided and self financing) with 175 civil engineering students from Tamilnadu state of India. Factor analysis of the responses in combination with hypotheses testing hypothesis were applied. Results showed that there is a significant difference between quantitative and qualitative data collected from Indian and Iranian students’ responses.
