Abstract:

Strain of Rhizoctonia cerealis, highly resistant to fludioxonil, was isolated after 36 subcultures on the PDA-amended with fludioxonil. The resistance factor of the resistant strain was 20.04-fold relative to the wild-type strain. The resistance was stable after eight transfers in fludioxonil-free medium. The resistant strain was sensitive to high and moderate osmotic pressures and showed reductions in the ecological fitness such as reduced mycelial growth and sclerotia numbers, but had enhanced sclerotial weight compared with the wild-type. Slight cross-resistance relationships were found between fludioxonil and tebuconazole and validamycin, with 3.42- and 2.87-fold decreased sensitivity in comparison with the wild-type strain. In contrast, the resistant strain indicated a slight negative cross-resistance between fludioxonil and difenoconazole and propiconazole, and showed a 0.76- and 0.65-fold increased sensitivity to these fungicides.
