Abstract:

Methods were developed for the analysis of residues of bromoxynil in maize (Zea mays). The bromoxynil residues were extracted from maize samples with different impregnant by shaking, Soxhlet extraction and ultrasound-microwave extraction techniques and detected by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). It was found that the minimum detectable concentration is 0.05 mg kg-1 in maize. The residue of bromoxynil in maize was extracted by shaking resulted in the recovery of 84.8-105.2% of the bromoxynil in maize samples. Using accelerated solvent extraction (ASE), it was found that the limits of quantification of bromoxynil residues in maize ranged from 0.01 to 1.00 mg kg-1; the recoveries of bromoxynil using accelerated solvent extraction techniques were in excess of 80.0%.
