Abstract:

According to statistics, landslides as the main form of geological hazards cause great damage to life safety and survival environment of people. Combining with the technique of strength reduction, the FEM method for soil seepage is applied to calculate the stability of slope under rainfall infiltration. The influence of matrix suction on permeability is taken into account and the modified Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion is adopted as the standard of shear strength. The process of rainfall infiltration and its effect on mechanical behavior are analyzed by 2-D finite element seepage-stress coupled program so that the deformation and safety factor of soil slope can be obtained by means of catastrophic theory. At last, the model is used to calculate the safety factor of slope based on a specified case. The results compared with common model show that the proposed method is available, and can be applied to analyze the stability of soil slope under rainfall conditions.
