Abstract:

This study explored technical, allocative and economic efficiency measures of crop farms in the Aegean Coastal Basin of Turkey by using Data Envelopment Analysis. The average efficiency scores of cotton, wheat, maize and silage farms exposed the existence of inefficiencies in the production of these crops in the basin. Data on economic efficiency indicated that the farms could potentially decrease their costs of crop production between 20.04% and  32.36% on average and still grow the same amount of crops.
