Abstract:

The polyphenolic profile of the peach blossom ethanol-water extract was assessed as a source of nature antioxidant. Polyphenols from peach blossom (PPB) were separated into four fractions (PPB10, PPB30, PPB50 and PPB70) with gradient elution method on D101 resin column. The antioxidant activity of PPB was evaluated in vitro with different systems. In solution conditions, PPB was submitted to the specific assay media containing of DPPH, hydroxyl radical (OH·) or lipid peroxidation markers. The reducing power and inhibiting human leukemia MT-2 cells proliferation capacity were also determined. The results showed that all PPB fractions were able to exercise a significant and dose-increasing antioxidative ability. Among all the fractions, PPB50 expressed the highest antioxidant activity, its IC50 values were 26.93 mg/L (DPPH), 69.74 mg/L (anti-lipoperoxidation) and 0.58 mg/L (OH·), respectively, even lower than ascorbic acid. The total phenol contents (TPC) assay that PPB50 contains the higher TPC.
