Abstract:

The production of agricultural goods is one activity that takes place in all economies. The livelihood of a majority of the developing world’s population is tied directly to this production. Accordingly, there has been a sustained interest in understanding the essential elements of agricultural production in both local-level and national-level studies. Albania is a relatively a small country, compared with those in the region, mostly mountainous, and with a population of about 2.8 million inhabitants. The total area of agricultural land occupies 24% (or about 699,000 ha) of the total area of the country. About 43% (or 304,000 ha) of agricultural land is located in the field with generally good quality production, about 34% (or 239,000 ha) in the mountainous area, and about 23% (or 159,000 ha) of which is designed entirely cultivation of fruit trees. The current paper tries to assess the agricultural production related to fixed amounts of labor and land and also to the level of agricultural inputs. We make use of a conceptual model developed by Deininger et al. to derive a theoretical model on households’ rental market participation. The results indicate that most of the coefficients of the factors of production are positive and strongly significant, which means that agriculture production increases with the increasing use of each factor.
