Abstract:

This study evaluated the acute toxicity of 8 herbicides to Trichogramma ostriniae and Trichogramma dendrolimi with dry film residue method to identify the toxicity risk of herbicides used in corn ecosystem for Trichogramma spp. The results showed that LC50 of nicosulfuron, clodinafop-propargyl, fluroxypyr, 2,4-D butylate, pendimethalin, mesotrione, metolachlor and atrazine to Trichogramma ostriniae were 0.266, 12.1, 22.9, 26.8, 100, 144, 216 and 792 mg.L-1 respectively. Among the herbicides, nicosulfuron showed the highest toxicity to Trichogramma ostriniae. The other herbicides were safe to Trichogramma ostriniae. The toxicity (LC50) of eight herbicides to Trichogramma dendrolimi were nicosulfuron50 of them were 1.78, 42.8, 87.4, 224, 1480, 1840, 2320 and 2540 mg.L-1 respectively. All the herbicides were safe to Trichogramma dendrolimi. However, susceptibility of two kinds of Trichogramma spp. to these herbicides was significantly different. The toxicities of pendimethalin, mesotrione and fluroxypyr to two Trichogramma spp. were significantly different. The toxicities of these 3 herbicides to Trichogramma ostriniae were 23.2, 17.6 and 10.1 times higher than to Trichogramma dendrolimi, respectively. The differences between the toxicity of nicosulfuron and metolachlor to two Trichogramma spp. were also higher than that of clodinafop-propargyl, 2,4-D butylate and atrazine. Ratios of above herbicides to Trichogramma dendrolimi and Trichogramma ostriniae were 6.85, 6.69, 3.54, 3.26 and 2.32. The above results indicated that Trichogramma ostriniae was more susceptible to tested herbicides than Trichogramma dendrolimi. Thus, when controlling Ostrinia nubilalis by usingTrichogramma spp., we must avoid the time of applying herbicides, especially postemergence herbicide, nicosulfuron.
