Abstract:

Oregano oil premix is widely used in livestock and poultry breeding. However, oregano oil has a strong irritating smell. In order to reduce the adverse reaction of oregano oil premix during feeding process, the solid coating technology was used to develop a new type of oregano oil premix. The purpose of this study was to compare clinical effect of new oregano oil premixed with two recognized agents and mature products on the market-ROPADIAR Powder 10% and OREGOSTIM PREMIX 5%. The Ross 308 broiler cockerels were treated as test animals. In accordance with dietary supplementation, oregano oil was added at a dose of 15 mg/kg, growth performance index and slaughter performance index were compared during the growth process. The test results showed that compared with OREGOSTIM and ROPADIAR, new type oregano oil premix could significantly improve weight gain and body weight of broiler chicken (P<0.05), and significantly decreased the ratio of feed and meat at breeding period, growth period and fattening period. About disease resistance of broiler chicken, new type oregano oil premix had no difference with ROPADIAR and OREGOSTIM. Thus, we can draw the conclusion that new type oregano oil premix has the similar disease resistance with mature products on the markets as ROPADIAR and OREGOSTIM, but it has a better effect on growth performance.
