Expert system based on improved quantitative for diagnosis and treatment of cucumber diseases

Abstract:An expert system based on an improved quantitative diagnosis method was developed. The expert system, called CDDEST, is an interactive voice response (IVR)-based automatic diagnostic tool that helps farmers identify cucumber diseases, as well as suggests appropriate prevention and control methods. Its system structure and components are described. The CDDEST cucumber database contains a knowledge base on 79 cucumber disease symptoms, 18 types of diseases, and 23 types of pesticides. The system enables users to select symptoms without weight or any other professional terminology to simplify source data requirements. For more accurate diagnosis results, CDDEST adopts an improved quantitative diagnosis method that integrates the selection number of a disease with its disease score. The incorporation of IVR in expert systems enables farmers to effectively diagnose diseases anytime, anywhere.
