Abstract:

The opening, closing and sliding of joints have significant effect on dynamic response of high arch dams. The opening of joints is the important indicator for the seismic analysis of arch dam. Based on a real project, this paper simulates the nonlinear behaviour of arch dam joints, considering the visco-elastic boundary condition, and studies the influence under different load condition on the opening of arch dam joints. The calculation shows that low water level has great influence on the arch dam joints. So this calculation condition should be taken as the control condition.

Arch dam, the opening of joint, earthquake action, mixed finite element method
