Abstract:

Based on monthly air temperature of the 23 meteorological stations up to 2004 over the Heihe River basin and its adjacent areas, the time series of air temperature in spring, summer, autumn and winter, and mean annual air temperature (MAAT) over the Heihe River basin were constructed, and the interdecadal variations of air temperature were analysed. The results showed that air temperature in spring, summer, autumn, winter and MAAT all exhibited significantly increasing trend in 1951-2004 over the basin, and the tendency rate was 0.23°C decade -1, 0.17°C decade -1, 0.25°C decade -1, 0.46°C decade -1 and 0.28°C decade -1, respectively. The tendency rate in winter was significantly greater than other seasons. This conclusion is consistent with those reported in Northwest China and on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. In addition to the maximum air temperature in the winter appearing around Jinta and in the Northeast of Gaotai-Linze from 1950s through 2000-2004 over the Heihe River basin, the minimum and maximum air temperature in spring, summer, autumn, winter as well as MAAT appeared in the South of Tuole-Yeniugou and in the East of the Inner Mongolia Plateau, respectively. Similar with the interdecadal variations of the minimum and maximum air temperature, the mean air temperatures in four seasons and MAAT all showed more apparently increasing interdecadal variations, especially the air temperature in autumn and MAAT.
