Remote-sensing image denoising using rational-dilation wavelet transform

Abstract:An over-complete rational-dilation wavelet transform (O-RWT) based image denoising method is proposed for remote-sensing (RS) images with rich texture, as RS image is widely applied in various social and environmental tasks and the noise in RS images greatly impact its application. The previous multi-scale transforms used in image denosing sparsely sample the spatial-frequency domain and aren’t suitable for the textural RS image. The O-RWT increases the sampling rate in both spatial and frequency domain. We analyzed its multi-scale decomposition scheme and the O-RWT based denoising method. The experiments result shows that this method can achieve a promising performance and often outperforms many other widely-used denoising methods both in visual quality and in term of evaluation indexes.
