Abstract:

In order to study the effect of different levels of expanded blood meal on the production performance and cecal microorganisms for growing geese, three hundred Huoyan geese (1142.68 ± 50.64 g BW, 28 d of age) were randomly divided into three treatments with 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5% expanded blood meal in the feed diets (five replicates of 20 geese per treatment), for a period of 28 d feeding trial. The results showed that different levels of expanded blood meal had a significant influence on the growth performance of growing geese. Comparing to the addition of 1.5%, 4.5% expanded blood meal, adding 3.0% expanded blood meal in Huoyan geese diet did get the average daily gain, and average daily feed intake improved significantly (P < 0.05), while the feed conversion ratio was least. Numbers of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium in the group with 3.0% expanded blood meal were significantly higher than that of other groups, while the number of E. coli was least. In the group with 1.5% expanded blood meal, the numbers of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium were less than that of other groups, while the number of E. coli was largest. The results indicated that adding 3% expanded blood meal in the diets of growing geese gets a better effect.
