Abstract:

Since time immemorial the herbal medicines have proved to be promising because of their potential properties. The fruits are used all over world inraw and processed form because of healthy and nutrient compounds, while the peels, skin and seeds etc are discarded and least exploited. This addsto a lot of pollution problem too if they are not disposed of judiciously. The wastes of Punica granatum, Citrus limetta, Musa paradisiaca, Ananascomosus, Zea mays and Annona squamosa were studied to have a view of their phytochemical and antimicrobial properties. These might prove asa novel source of antimicrobials and could be utilized against the pathogenic microbes. The antibacterial properties were studied against E.coli (NCIM2065), Bacillus subtilis (NCIM 2196) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (NCIM 5029). A good potency was exhibited by these fruit waste and it issuggested that these might prove to be an effective bactericidal agent
