Association of body mass index and estimated glomerular filtration rate in adults with early chronic kidney disease

Over the past two decades increased attention on epidemiological studies of heath and disease is seen, the first concern is a severe uprise in emergence of chronic non communicable diseases, causing a huge number of mortality and morbidity issues. It was evaluated 75 patients with early chronic kidney disease (CKD) from the nephrology clinics and correlated their parameters with the estimated glomerular filtration rate (e GFR) levels. The mean e GFR level in subjects with normal body mass index (BMI) was 114.90 ±17.38, whereas low levels 37.0±4.65 was noted in class III obesity (p<0.001). The mean TG 324±86.76 in obese class II group proved that high TG was associated with increased BMI. The levels were too high in class III obesity (p<0.001). There is a significant effect of BMI on e GFR and other parameters like total cholesterol (TC), plasma triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein (LDL), high density lipoprotein (HDL), serum albumin etc.
