Abstract:Waste water from a vegetable oil refinery located at Bejaia (Algeria) has been found to introduce a very high pollution load to the receiving marine waters. Experiments of de-oiling followed by coagulation and flocculation showed the method quite effective in removing most of the fat content, about half of the chemical oxygen demand and one-fifth of the suspended matter.
