Effect of egg yolk added to goose semen extender on the semen survival time

Abstract:

Simple and efficient methods for dilution of semen are important for artificial impregnation. The most commonly used semen diluter for goose is 5% glucose. Semen diluter enables diluted semen to be stored for 3-7 days at 4°C. The effectiveness of egg yolk supplementing to 5% glucose on goose semen during in vitro storage was determined. The semen motility rate was examined. The mean survival time of the semen diluted with 5% glucose was 1.5-2.5 days.Vitality of goose sperm was greatly impacted by environmental temperature. The addition of egg yolk to 5% glucose extended semen survival time 0.5 to 1.5 days. The supplementation of 15% egg yolk significantly improved the goose semen extender on the semen survival time.
