Maku dam monitoring by comparison of results of instrumentation and computer software

Abstract:Maku dam is located on Zanghmar River 12 km away from Maku city in west Iran which is constructed in 1994. In this paper, it is tried to present an exact monitoring analysis of Maku dam. First, instrumentantion system that is installed at foundation and body of the dam in 2004 (10 years after impoundment) are surveyed. Then, by using “SEEP/W “ software, Maku dam is analyzed. Finally, for accreditation to analysis, result of software and data of instrumentantion are compared. The calculation shows that efficiency of watertight diaphragm is 77.5%, but there is some fissure in foundation rock and grouting is necessary as well. Pressure in clay core is affected to foundation pressure, totally the clay core and foundation condition are acceptable.
