Abstract:

Plant physiological activities can be analyzed from the photosynthetic light response curve. In the present study, light response curves in 25 cut- flower chrysanthemum cultivars in southern China were examined. The results indicated that important photosynthetic parameters such as photosynthetic capacity, average or maximum net photosynthetic rate (PN), light compensation point (LCP), and light saturation point (LSP) were different among cultivars. The summer blooming chrysanthemum had significantly higher maximum PN and LSP than the fall blooming chrysanthemum. There were insignificant differences in LCP and quantum yield (YQ) between the fall and summer blooming chrysanthemum. According to the LCP and LSP, the cultivars tested can be classified into four groups, shade endurance group, heliophile group, widely adaptable group and narrow light group.
