Abstract:

The Serra Geral aquifer is formed by impermeable basaltic rocks; therefore, groundwater production occurs only along fissures and burst of rocks and an intercalation with permeable rocks. A total of 77 and 36 wells were used to analyze quantitative and qualitative water data, respectively, in Cascavel, Paraná, Brazil. The findings for the quantitative aspects were: 1-The average depth of well excavation was 90.28 m; 2-The lowest depths of static and dynamic level are in regions with the lowest topographical elevation; 3-There is less variation of lowering in static/dynamic level of wells with the greatest depths; 4-The average discharge was found to be 7.88 m³ h-1; and 5-The average cost to set a well is US$ 4,965.40. For qualitative parameters, it was concluded that: 6-The average pH was 7.2, and its distribution is spatially variable; 7-The average turbidity was 0.115 NTU and almost spatially invariable, indicating a low concentration of suspended solids; 8-The electrical conductivity rate was 113 µS cm-1 and showed no spatial variability and 9-All wells present standard characteristics, based on pH and turbidity, published in the decree 2914/2011 of the Brazilian Ministry of Health.
