Abstract:

The main objectives of this study have been to find answers to the questions of whether it is possible to obtain or develop space typologies based on the landscape perception and preferences of users for urban parks which are one of the important elements of urban green areas and whether a relationship can be established between user ideas and expert evaluations regarding theestablishment of these space typologies. The main material of the study consists of 20 photographs selected from among the two urban parks in the city of Denizli. Two separate survey studies were carried out to the user group and the expert group based on the images in the photographs. The user group survey results and the expert group evaluations were compared afterwards and spatial characteristics for the most preferred images were put forth. It has been concluded that it is possible to put forth spatial typologies by bringing together spatial characteristics supporting the results of statistically significant previous studies in international literature based on the analysis results of the method used in the study.
