Inhibitory effect of chitosan on oxidative damage in rats fed with high-fat diet

Abstract:

Chitosan is a polysaccharide that is known to have important functional properties in many areas but its applications as functional food are restricted due to poor absorption. Chitosan treatment had significantly decreased blood lipid levels. Administration of chitosan significantly decreased oxidative damage in rats when compared to the control. It can be concluded that chitosan is beneficial for the hepatic detoxification.
