Notes on bark and wood-boring beetles (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae; Curculionidae: Platypodinae and Scolytinae) of the Sweetgum (Liquidambar orientalis Mill.) Forest Nature Protection Area, with a new record for Turkish fauna

Abstract:Bark and wood-boring beetles (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae; Curculionidae: Platypodinae and Scolytinae) of the Sweetgum Forest Nature Protection Area which is located in Sütçüler province of Isparta-Turkey, were determined in 2011 and 2012 by this study. In order to determine the bark and wood-boring beetles ethanol baited red winged sticky traps and window type traps were used. Also some specimens were taken from drying or fallen trees. A total of 15 species were collected. Among these, Sinoxylon muricatum (Linnaeus), Scobicia chevrieri (Villa&Villa) (Bostrichidae: Bostrichinae); Hypoborus ficus Erichson, Taphrorychus villifrons (Dufour) and Anisandrus dispar (Fabricius) (Curculionidae: Scolytinae) have been reported for the first time on Liquidambar orientalis by this study. Xylechinus pilosus Ratzeburg, 1837 (Curculionidae: Scolytinae) is recorded for the first time from Turkey.
