Abstract:

In this paper, urban river distribution patterns in the Town of Luzhi were mapped based on the topographic data obtained at three different times between 1979 and 2009. The spatial-temporal distribution pattern of the town river network and its impacts on the environment are then analyzed by using GIS and three indexes. The main results were as follows: the number of stream in Luzhi town decreased from 421 to 187 and the water area of the river channel was reduced from 13.72 to 4.61 km2 during periods; The number of channels decreasing and the length of them getting shorter at spatial scales, especially in the north of the town. Urban river system diminishment is transferred from the industrial area to the surrounding agricultural region. The relationship between three indexes (Wp, Rd, Rf) and urban area expansion were analyzed, The main driving-force of urban river stream change is urban development, which includes construction of buildings and roads, land consolidation.
