Abstract:This study seeks to evaluate the influencing factors of low-carbon development of hotel industry in China. An evaluation conceptual framework was established which consists of three layers including the target layer, the criteria layer and the index layer. In the criteria layer there have three factors: hotel, government and consumer, and the index layer constitutes 10 factors. Data were collected from ten qualified experts of ample knowledge on low-carbon and hotel management. This study employed an analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to evaluate the relative weights of different factors. The results indicate that hotel internal measures have the highest weights, in which energy conservation technology and exchanges and training are key factors of energy saving and emission reduction of hotel industry. The study also proves that low-carbon development of hotel industry is highly influenced by government’s policy and consumer’s participation. Evaluation model of low-carbon development based on the AHP method can provide basis for energy conservation and emission reduction of hotel industry in China.
