Abstract:

An experiment was conducted to study the relationship between diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA)/hot water (for Boron extraction), and DTPA_Sorbitol (DTPA_S) on the extraction of copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), and  boron (B) availability with Black soil in Northeast China. About 90 agriculture Black soil samples were collected for this study. The results of DTPA_S for Cu, Fe, and Mn determination were comparable to those of the DTPA, while extraction of Zn was reduced by 14.18% to those of the DTPA. However, there were significantly positive correlations between DTPA_S and DTPA for the amount of Cu, Zn, Fe and Mn availability, and the regression coefficients (r from 0.962** to 0.995**) were high and close to 1.0 as well. Furthermore, the relationships between Hot water extraction B (HWB) and DTPA_S for B availability were also linear, especially in the alkali soil with pH ranged from 6.77 to 9.38 (r = - 0.826**). Therefore, DTPA_S could be recommended for Cu, Zn, Fe, Mn, and B determination without any modification in Black soil in Northeast China, while for B determination in the acid soil with pH < 6.77 should be revalidated in future work.
