Abstract:

The aim of the study was to assess the effect of biotope conditions, land use on floristic variation and nature value of rushes of marsh sedge Caricetum acutiformis Sauer 1937. In the years 2009-2012, phytosociological and habitat analysis were conducted in wetlands with varied moisture and trophic conditions. Mean values of Ellenberg’s and Oświt’s indexes for the Caricetum acutiformis association showed a significant effect of moisture content, soil reaction and soil nitrogen content on trophic conditions, species composition of flora, yield and use value as well as species diversity of marsh sedge rushes. These indexes indicate their potential applicability in the evaluation of directions of changes in rush flora. Maintenance and preservation of the present nature value of the rushes have to be connected with the extensive use of this association, compliant with the protection action plan and management focused on preservation of biotope conditions.
