Abstract:

A locally-prepared polyvalent vaccine (C. pseudotuberculosis and Staphylococcus aureus subsp. anaerobius) against abscess disease of sheep was investigated. Twenty Najdi ewes were divided into 4 groups of 5 animals each. The animals were mixed with 5 rams infected with abscess disease as a source of infection. The results show that 1 ml of the vaccine is protective for 6 months while higher doses were protective for 8 months. The results showed also that the vaccine was safe and vaccination raised antibody titres against the disease as shown by the ELISA results.
